i havnt used vista, but on XP there is an option somewhere and it says "restart after install" because most programs require you to do that anyway. if it shuts down your computer when you start the install, then i dunno

there is usually a dialogue box from the taskbar that will ask you if you'd restart the computer to complete the installation and there's a countdown that will automatically select to shutdown. but start a download? that's pretty weird. try looking at the product info, you may find things there that will help you. i've used vista but i didn't encounter problems like that.
