Can i move vista to a new machine?

I have a laptop that died. Before it died I had bought and installed vista ultimate. What I would like to do is install my vista on my new laptop but i'm not sure what microsoft will do when it gets the authentication request. Anyone have any experiance with this?

You can move Vista to any machine, however, you will have 30 days after instal to activate. When you go to activate, it will not let you, you then will have to call the support number that they will provide you with and give them the code on your screen and they will activate it for you. You will have to explain what happend to your old laptop. They will do it for you they are pretty good about that sort of stuff.

Yes. Install the OS onto the new PC and when it is authenticating it you will need to call and they will give you a master code to enter, tell them that you have bought a new computer and want to put it on the new PC. There is also an alternate way to go about this, email me if you are interested in that way :p
yes you can

only a certain amount of times i think tho
You are ok. If it does say something you might just have to call them and explain. Go ahead and install, worse you have to do is tell them that one laptop died and you got a new one. No worries. And it might not even come to that. Hope this helps.
As long as the authentication isn't installed on two computers at the same time, you're fine. If your old laptop is dead (non-functioning and never to be used again), you can use the OS on a new computer.
