Yes you can. AVG anti-spyware's free version doesn't come with real time protection and automatic updates, but you can make it scan your computer and remove all detected infections.

Your question answered itself. Can you remove viruses with the ''Spyware'' Edition. NO! - AVG has it's own Anit-Virus download that you would need to do that. The Spyware Edition is similar to Ad-Aware or Spybot.. gets rid of spies/ads.
