Are laptops more vulnerable to viruses?

Can I download Yahoo Messenger and still be safe? Will I be safe if I do my Spybot Search and Destroy before or after I download something and still be safe??? HELP!!!

Are laptops more vulnerable to viruses?internet

A computer and laptop are the same one is just compact. They are vulnerable to the samethings. Downloading yahoo messenger is fine because it is coming from yahoo. If you didnt know where it was comming from then i would be suspicious. The only way to get a virus is to download something. Ad ware and spr ware are to different stories.

The type of computer doesn't matter. The operating system is what matters. Regardless of what anyone tells you, ALL operating systems are vulnerable to viruses, some more than others. What I mean by operating system is Windows Vista or Windows XP or MAC OSX or Linux. The best policy to protect against viruses is a good anti-virus, anti-spam and anti-spy-ware program. Frequent scans is also a great idea. Keep doing your scans, make sure you have a good anti-virus program and keep it up to date. You will be fine. You still may get infected but the risk is much much lower.
doesn't matter if its a laptop or desktop, spybot is for adware/spyware not viruses, you need a virus scanner for that. if you dont't have one try AVG http://free.grisoft.com you can download yahoo messager, i'm sure thats safe
they are just as venerable as PCs just make sure you have a good anti virus.
A PC needs 3 types of protection. Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, Firewall.

There is a guide on my PC help site on; What you need, Why you need it, Where to get it.

All are free.

I don't think a laptop would be any more or less vulnerable to viruses. Running a good Virus scan (AVG, Norton, McAfee, etc.) should protect you, provided you update it regularly (I update my AVG daily.
