If I'm buying a newdesktop but already have the Wind Vista software from my laptop, do I still

I bought a new dell laptop a few weeks ago, and it came with the new windows vista software. Now I need to buy a desktop for my little brother. Do I still need to order it having the Windows Vista software? or can I just use the same software that came with my computer? does it double check itself?

Vista is an operating system, in order for a computer to function it needs an operating system.

You can not buy a computer without some sort of operating system installed.

Only way would be to build your own computer from scratch.
No. The Vista you have already is only registered to your laptop.

You need to purchase another copy of Vista or purchase a PC with Vista pre installed.

If you try to mess with the Vista on your laptop you run a high risk rendering it void.
The copy of Windows you license with a computer can run on only one system--the system it's installed on. You need to include a license for Vista or XP with the new system. They are not interchangeable.
