I have a Microsoft Vista product key, but not OS disk. How do I get a disk?

I bought a tower, with no OS installed, but it did come with a Vista license. How do I get a copy of Vista to install?

You have to purchase a new copy of vista. Even if you were able to get a burnt copy of vista it will not pass authentication.

You'd have to download it or borrow a friend's copy. So long as you have a legit license, I believe you're covered under personal backup copy protection. IANAL though.

So I'd suggest hitting up Bittorrent (Pirate Bay, Mininova are good torrent search engines) for an ISO of the DVD. Be warned though, that the file is going to be a few GB, so if you have a daily/monthly bandwidth cap, keep that in mind.

EDIT: Unless they changed copy protections between XP and Vista, the disc isn't checked, just your serial key at activation, which this guy says is legit. So it will probably work. If not, find another copy and download again.

Keep in mind though that your key must match the product you're trying to install. So don't get Vista Ultimate if the license is for Home Premium. Also, if it's an OEM license, it's good for either the 32 bit or 64 bit version (idk how to tell based on the key). A retail boxed key is good for either 32 or 64bit.
Ask Microsoft as you have the key and they should be able to help

Or if the key is a copy you are fecked as Microsoft will only let you use genuine software(not cracked or copied)

Or you can download it from Microsoft direct
